In this tutorial you'll learn one way to create a part of a city building and then continue on your own to complete the entire building.
In the first step we need to make sure Snap to Grid is on.

Then we need to see the Perspective Grid.

Hovering over the grid line edges with the mouse will allow you to move and adjust the grid.

At this point we can choose the Pen tool and create the outline of the side of a building. Then go back to Perspective Grids and hide the grid so we can work on the building.

Now we need to take the outline and tell it to Convert to Selection. Also create a new layer while the shape is selected.

Select the Palette Knives brush and choose Loaded Palette Knife.

Now choose a color.

Make two or three vertical strokes. Deselect.

Take off Snap to Grid and then zoom in. Use the Pen tool to create the door frame. Do a Convert to Selection as we did above and then hide the grid.

Make sure you are on the correct layer and choose Edit>Cut.
The side of the building should look similar to what you see below. If you need to delete any area, select it and use the Edit>Cut feature.

Going back and forth, use the Pen tool to create the outline of a window, make sure you're on the correct layer, and use the Edit>Cut feature.

On a layer below the current layer, use the Pen tool and create the door then use the Fill command to paint it. Do the same for the window.

Use the Dodge and Burn tools to add more depth on both layers.

For the exterior of the building you can Apply Surface Texture using Image Luminance and adjusting Amount of Depth.

You can apply a surface texture to both layers. You should be able to make out that this is looking more like a realistic building. Using the methods shown above, go ahead and complete the entire building.
