In this tutorial we'll have a little fun designing fun fonts.
I start with a font I found called Elephant and typed out the text.

Opening the arrow on the layers palette, I selected Convert Text to Shapes.

With the Shape Selection tool, I moved letters around.

I then clicked on the Layer Commands icon and chose Collapse to make the layers of letters into one layer.

I copied that layer and pasted it again making a duplicate of the letters.
Then I took that new layer of letters and applied Depth of Field using paper with Small Dots as my selection.
\

I then chose Load Selection and used Replace Selection.

Choosing the Selection Adjuster tool, I moved the selection up and over.

Next I applied the Highpass filter.

I then used the Load Selection again to reselect the letters and then chose the Burn tool set to 32% Opacity. I burned in the lower half of the letters to give them interest.

I selected the original layer of letters which is underneath the layer we've been working on, and applied Depth of Field to it.

I changed Paper to Retro Fabric then applied Express Texture to the underlying lettering.

Finally I changed the top layer's Composite Method to Hard Light and called it finished.
