Creating a Mosaic - Corel Painter Tutorial
| Jacquelin Vanderwood | 1 | | Create or open a picture. Clone it. Click on the Transparency icon up in the corner of the screen. Click Clone Color in the Color palette. Select Make Mosaic. If at this point your screen turns white, click on Done and click on the Grid Paper icon up in the upper right of your screen to turn it off and go back into Make Mosaic. | | 2 | | You will find a screen that looks like the one below. It's very simple to use. Width, Length, Pressure and Grout are fairly self-explanatory. If you want to change the color of the grout, click in the color square titled Grout and select a new color. If you have ever painted, this is exactly the same. To test the size of the mosaic tiles and grout that you want, experiment by laying a stroke down, then if you don't like it, press Control+Z to undo it. Do a little bit. Press Done. Click on the Transparency icon to hide the background picture so that you view what you have done so far. When you are satisfied, click the Transparency icon again and go back into Make Mosaic. | | 3 | | Below I have used different widths for the tiles. The sky has a large tile while the tree's tile size is smaller. | | 4 | | Again, adjust the tile size to your specific needs. To fill in blank space, reduce the tile size and brush around. | | 5 | | Don't forget that you can adjust the grout as well. | | 6 | | Here I've laid in all the tiles using white grout | | 7 | | When you have completed the project, apply a surface texture to give it a 3D appearance. | | 8 | | Below are a couple of images I created with the Mosaic feature. The first one was of a painting and the second mosaic was done from one of my photos. As you can see, there are a variety of ways to accomplish the task. It can be very controlled as the bottom mosaic is or it can be very decorative. It's your choice. | Copyright 2001, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved |
