Cotton Candy Flower Wallpaper and Gift Wrap - Corel Painter Tutorial
| Jacquelin Vanderwood | 1 | | In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to make a cotton candy type brush. Open up Brushes: Artists>Sargent Brush. | | 2 | | Here are the Brush Controls. Go in and make the proper adjustments to the different drop down menus. | | 3 | | This brush will work off of a gradient so you'll have to choose your front and back colors. I am going to start with white and red. I'm working in a 640 x 480 screen with a white background. In Controls:Brush set the Size and Opacity appropriately as you see below. Also, create a new layer to work on. | | 4 | | Follow the pictures below. | | 5 | | You don't have to change the gradient to change the gradient color. Change the gradient color by selecting just a new color. Reduce the Brush Size. Paint the center of the flower. | | 6 | | Create a new layer. Change the color to pink. Change the brush size as well. Paint behind the flower. Select Apply Lighting and choose Blue Light. Change the color to pink. | | 7 | | Apply Surface Texture to this layer. Follow the screen below. | | 8 | | Create a new layer and drag it down. Change the color to green. Enlarge the brush size. Paint some leaves and then reduce the brush size and create the detail. | | 9 | | Group the flower pieces by holding the shift key down and select the layers. Select Drop and Select. Once you have done that go up into the menu and select Float to put the flower on it's own layer. | | 10 | | Open the Pattern Mover and select New to create a new file. In Patterns, click on the arrow and select Other and find your new Pattern library. With Selection tool selected, click in Patterns on the arrow and select Capture Pattern... | | 11 | | With the new pattern library open, select the new pattern, adjust the Offset to 27% and Scale to 13%. Select the Canvas layer and press Control+F to open the Fill dialogue box. Select Pattern. | | 12 | | Here is the result of all our efforts, a cotton candy flower that can be used in a variety of ways including as art for wrapping paper, cloth, wallpaper, and more. | Copyright 2001, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved |
