Using Liquid Ink - Corel Painter 7 Tutorial
| Jacquelin Vanderwood | 1 | | To begin with, click on the button with the 3 papers and a plus sign to access the dropdown options. Select New Liquid Ink Layer. (As of the date of this lesson, be forewarned that there are some glitches in the Brush Controls section of the Liquid Ink feature. Save before attempting to change to new Dab Types. The Liquid Ink Bristle Spray has hung my system several times and I have reported glitches in Painter 7 so hopefully they are working on a patch.) To work with Liquid Ink you must work on a Liquid Ink layer. However, when you have completed your design you can drop and select it and then float it to raise it to it's own layer or even create a shape from it. It is an interesting feature especially when they get all the bugs out of it. Painter is notorious for having problems but there is no other program out there like it for the common computer. | | 2 | | Let's work with the Liquid Ink Airbrush brush in this lesson. That will keep it simple. Below that graphic is the screen shot of the varieties of types of brushes you can choose from. As you can see, if I tried to cover all of the Liquid Ink brushes and all of the varieties for each brush and all of the Dab Types, etc., this lesson would fill a book. There is just too much to choose from for that. | | 3 | | Select Graphic Bristle in the Brushes. Paint a little. | | 4 | | Select Graphic Flat. Paint some orange then change to yellow. | | 5 | | Choose Graphic Camel. Select a light blue and paint then click on a light purple and paint some more. You'll notice things will begin to change. | | 6 | | Click on Dry Camel. Choose the color black. Paint the ground area. You'll see the dark blue at the bottom begin to disappear and reappear at different places. | | 7 | | Select Dry Bristle and a light blue. Paint above the light purple area. | | 8 | | Choose Smooth Bristle and an aqua color and paint along the top. | | 9 | | Now select Smooth Rake and yellow and paint more at the top. | | 10 | | Select Depth Bristle and a mute lavender and paint. | | 11 | | Select the Sparse Bristle brush and see how it fills up the holes. Then select Soften Edges and Color. It will fill up holes and soften color. | | 12 | | To stop the picture from changing, select Drop and Select then Float. Continue playing with the different brushes. Have fun. | Copyright 2001, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved |
