Open
the file you made from the bitmap fill tutorial we named
bitmaptext. |
2 |
Add
an object (layer) it is the icon at the bottom of the Object Docker
to the left of the trash can. If your Object Docker isn't open
the go to Window|Dockers|Object |
3 |
We
are going to weave some rope through our letters. Go to Window|Dockers|artistic
Media and scroll down to where you see brown rope and click on
it |

4 |
We'll
need to make it a bit smaller for our purposes. Go to the properties
bar and next to Brown Rope you'll see a number 14, change this to
10. |

5 |
Now
draw the rope onto your new object layer. If for some chance it
doesn't draw on the white or over the letters. Then you may still
have a mask, just remove it. |
Remove
Mask

We are going to use
the clip mask now. Check to be sure that your rope is selected
click on the object layer you added, it should be at the top).
Make a mask of this object, Mask|create from object (Ctrl-M).
To make this a Clip
Mask, Object|Clip Mask|Create|From Mask. Check the Object docker,
you'll see another thumbnail for the Clip Mask and the red rectangle
indicates it is active.

7 |
To
protect our text we are going to load the mask we saved in the Bitmap
tutorial. Mask|Load|textmask |
8 |
Click
on the Paint brush tool and on the properties bar you will see
a brush, click on the down arrow and choose the Art Brush and
then Quick Doodler.

9 |
Check
the bottom status bar and see that the Paint is black and then
paint out the rope you don't want. If you make an error and you'd
like parts of the rope back then simply change the Paint to white
and paint over it, walla, it's back.

This
is what I came up with. You can remove the mask now.

To get rid of the Marquee (marching ants, dotted line) Object|Marquee
visible and uncheck this command is in the Mask menu also.

Let's
add a drop shadow now. Click on Object 3 (the object you made
from the bitmap fill tutorial when you combined the text and bitmap.
The layer below our new layer)
We'll apply a quick drop shadow, click on the drop shadow tool,
select flat bottom right.

9 |
You
can change the depth and position of the shadow by dragging the
black box you see here it's on the O). When you have the shadow
you like, then save or export as desired.
