In this lesson you'll learn how to create a background using gradients, lighting, mosaic, and pinch. This will be a background you can use for a variety of purposes.
To start, fill the layer with red.
At this point you'll apply Lighting to the layer using Crossing Down and Directional. Adjust the lighting manually inside the window.
Select half of the screen on a new layer. Fill that area with this gradient.
Apply Mosaic to the layer at a cell size of 80. Change the layer mode to Screen.
Control+J to duplicate the layer and change it's mode to Color Burn.
Create a new layer and apply this gradient from top to bottom.
Apply Mosaic at 200. You'll get this effect. Change that layer to Hue.
Duplicate the above layer. Apply Mosaic at a cell of 10. Change the layer mode to Vivid Light.
Duplicate that layer and leave the mode the same. Apply Pinch at the maximum number. Unhide all layers and you should have a background that looks like the one below.
