Embossing A Background - Photoshop CS2 Tutorial

In this tutorial you'll how to emboss lettering for a background effect.

Below is the image we'll use.

I've made a layer of lettering that I will use for the base effect.

I created an alpha layer in Channels from the above lettering.

Create a new layer with 50% gray. Open Lighting Effects and follow the settings below.

Adjust Levels and change the layer mode to Multiply.

Here's the result of this embossing technique.
