In this tutorial I'll show you a way to make an interesting design that can be used as a backdrop.
Start with a black background and then create a new layer. Take the Brush tool and select the Hard Round 1 brush.

Draw the design below using the color red.

Holding the Alt key down, begin to create of copy of the layer several times.

Select all but one layer.

Go to Transform and select Rotate. Make sure to click on the corner Reference Point.

Set Rotate to -1. Next step is to select one less layer and do the same thing all over again and do this until you can only do it the last layer so that you rotate each layer away from the other layer by 1 degree each time.

Create a new layer and draw a new line.

Duplicate the layer by dragging this layer on the Create new layer button at the bottom of the layers palette. Each time you duplicate it, tap the down arrow key four times. Select all layers but the first one and follow the same rules as before except change the Reference point. Do this for all consective layers.

Once you have done this select all of the layers and press Control+E to combine them.

Duplicate that layer three times and move each layer down.

Leave the original layer alone and select the next one then open Hue/Satureation and change Hue.

Depending on the colors you chose it should look something like this.

On a new layer draw a new design, duplicate it, move it, vary the distances between the lines.

You can use Transform>Perspective to change the shape of the design.

Finally, you can duplicate previous designs, use Transform through the menu and change the shape of them, also change the layer mode. This is an interesting and fun way to make designs without having other drawing programs.
