Master Point Controller - discreet 3ds max Tutorial
Whenever vertices or control points or vectors are animated in a sub-object mode such as Editable Mesh, Editable Poly, etc., the Master Point Controller is assigned to it. The Master Point Controller is really what it sounds like, a place or grid where you can make changes to the properties and helps you to manage numerous tracks created when animating vertices, points and vectors. Start by creating a simple object.

Applying Top/Bottom Materials - discreet 3ds max Tutorial
You can create material without having actual geometry on screen. But for the purposes of this lesson, I'll use geometry and apply the material so that I can easier see what I am doing. Open up the Material Editor. Click on the button that says Standard. Select New in the Material/Map Browser. Select Top/Bottom. Select to discard old material.
