The Deco Lady - Corel Paint Shop Pro Tutorial
| Donnamarie J. Walker May 3, 2002 | 1 | | This is a Selection tutorial so download your zip file here. If you are comfortable drawing with your pen or mouse, you can easily draw The Deco Lady yourself. Use the face/body selection to get you started, then draw her hair, ribbons and leaves! Now for this tutorial, all of the selections will be done on a single layer unless otherwise specified. You'll understand as we go along but you are welcome to put each item on its own layer if you are more comfortable doing so. | | 2 | | Ready? Open a new image 335 x 655. Copy and paste as a new image The Deco Lady Palette below. You can use these colors or choose your own. If you are going to use your own colors I would suggest putting together a palette before you begin. We will be using Black for our first fill, contracting by 1 and then filling with the other color throughout this tutorial.
| | 3 | | Add a new layer and load backribbons1.sel. Fill with black, contract by 1 and fill with #DF9F7B. You won't have to deselect. Now continue on in this manner. Load: backribbons2 - black - contract - #6F0E0F backribbons3 - black - contract - #63FCCD hair1 - black - contract - #DF9F7B hair2 - black - contract - #9E482D face/body - black - contract - #EDECD2 Save! | | 4 | | Let's add a new layer here for the face details, load and fill with black. You'll need to zoom in here to fill in white for her eyeball, #C0FFFF for the blue of her eye with your paint brush set at size 1, and, place a highlight dot of White on the pupil. You can use your Magic Wand and select the inside of her lips and fill with #FFC0C0. | | 5 | | Another new layer and we will continue on. Load: frontribbon1 - black - contract - #9FCFCE frontribbon2 - black - contract - #8D8FDB frontribbon3 - black - contract - #C0C0FF frontribbon4 - black - contract - #C0FFFF frontribbon5 - black - contract - #FFC0FF frontribbon6 - black - contract - #9FCFCE Save! | | 6 | | Still on the same layer load: turban1 - black - contract - #8D8FDB frontribbon7 - black - contract - #9FCFCE turban2 - black - contract - #9FCFCE frontribbon8 - black - contract - #9FCFCE frontribbon11 - black - contract - #9FCFCE frontribbon9 - black - contract - #8D9FDB

Save! | | 8 | | New layer and load: frontribbon10 - black - contract - #9FCFCE turbanribbons1 - black - contract - #6F0E0F turbanribbons2 - black - contract - #9E482D turbanribbons3 - black - contract - #C0C0FF details2 - black Save! | | 9 | | Add a new layer and using your paint brush and #FFC0C0 paint on a little blush for her cheeks and apply a Gaussian Blur to soften. If you are satisfied with your Deco Lady, save one more time in PSP format, shift D to duplicate, then merge all your layers visible and export as a tube. The reason for duplicating is so that you will always have your original copy ready anytime so you can change the colors or details to suit your needs. | | 10 | | I do hope you've enjoyed not only this tutorial but the finished image you've made. Your image won't be "exactly" like mine since mine was hand drawn but that's the beauty of PSP, every image can be different! It's taken me a while to bring The Deco Lady to you but I have had many requests for her so thought it was time I sat down and put together a selection tutorial for you. I encourage those of you with drawing abilities to try and draw her yourself, you will enjoy it! See you next time!!! | Copyright 2002, Donnamarie J. Walker, All Rights Reserved |
