The Deco Lady II - Corel Paint Shop Pro Tutorial
| Donnamarie J. Walker May 17, 2002 | 1 | | This is a Selection tutorial so download your zip file here. If you are comfortable drawing with your pen or mouse, you can easily draw The Deco Lady II yourself. Use the head/neck selections to get you started, then draw her hat, ribbons, flowers and leaves! | | 2 | | Ready? Open a new image 310 x 430. Copy and paste as a new image The Deco Lady II Palette below. You can use these colors or choose your own. If you are going to use your own colors I would suggest putting together a palette before you begin. We will be using Black for our first fill, contracting by 1 and then filling with the other colors throughout this tutorial.
| | 3 | | Add a new layer and load circle.sel. Fill with black, contract by 1 and fill with #3A0073. You won't have to deselect. Now continue on in this manner on the same layer. Contract 10 - Black - Contract 1 - #A600A6 Contract 10 - Black - Contract 1 - #800033 Contract 10 - Black - Contract 1 - #AC2639 Contract 10 - Black - Contract 1 - #FF7AA6 Contract 10 - Black - Contract 1 - #FFFFC0 Save! | | 4 | | I will now list the steps for the remainder of the Deco Lady: New layer - Collar1 - Black - Contract - #800033 New layer - Hat_Back - Black - Contract - #3A0073 New layer - Neck - Black - Contract - #FFD3C5 New layer - Collar2 - Black - Contract - #AC2639 New layer - Head - Black - Contract - #FFD3C5 New layer - Hat1 - Black - Contract - #3A0073 New layer - Hat1a - Black - Contract - #EA005D New layer - Hat2 - Black - Contract - #740D81 New layer - Hat2a - Black - Contract - #FF7AA6 New layer - Hat3 - Black - Contract - #A600A6 New layer - Hat4 - Black - Contract - #740D81 New layer - Hat5 - Black - Contract - #DA74DA
Save! | | 5 | | Another new layer and we will continue on. Load: Leaves1 - Black - Contract - #2A6761 Ribbons - Black - Contract - #FF7AA6
Save! | | 6 | | New layer. For the Flowers I've used one of the Flower Preset Shapes with Black Stroke of 1 and Fill Color #FFFFC0. For those who do not have this shape I have included the Flowers in PSP format so you can copy and paste. Adjust to fit using image above as a guide.
Save! | | 7 | | New layer and let's add the Details. After filling with Black move this layer under the Hat2a layer.
Save! | | 8 | | New layer. Using the Air Brush set at Round - Size 25 or smaller - #FF7AA6 - 50% Opacity spray on some Blush for her cheeks. I also made the Brush Size 5 and painted in a little color for her lips. Then I used a Gaussian Blur at 2 - 3 and moved this layer under the Details layer. Save! | | 9 | | Add a new layer and using your paint brush, small size and #2A6761 paint in her eyes. Zoom in to get a close view. Paint in a pupil using Black then highlight using #53C9BF and White. Color her lips using the darker reds and highlighting with the light pink and white. I also added color to her eyelids. Use your Retouch Tool set to a small size and Soften. Just click on the areas you want to soften, don't smudge or it will blur too much. You just want the colors to settle into each other. This layer should also be beneath the Details layer. Now add your own finishing touches to make The Deco Lady II uniquely yours! | | 10 | | If you are satisfied with your Deco Lady II, save one more time in PSP format, shift D to duplicate, then merge all your layers visible and export as a tube. The reason for duplicating is so that you will always have your original copy ready anytime so you can change the colors or details to suit your needs. I do hope you've enjoyed not only this tutorial but the finished image you've made. Your image won't be "exactly" like mine since mine was hand drawn but that's the beauty of PSP, every image can be different! I encourage those of you with drawing abilities to try and draw her yourself, you will enjoy it! See you next time!!! | Copyright 2002, Donnamarie J. Walker, All Rights Reserved |
