Painting with Tubes - Corel Paint Shop Pro tutorial

Vikki Dawson

1 Paint Shop Pro tubes are available all over the net. Painting with them is fun and easy. For this tutorial we'll be painting with the default tubes that come with the default installation of Paint Shop Pro 7.

Create a new image 300 x 300 pixels.

Create a new layer either by clicking on the Layer icon in the Layer palette or by going to Layers>New Raster Layer. Name the layer "Sky".

2 Choose a nice dark and light orange for the foreground and background colors. In the styles dialog choose the gradient pattern.

Use the Paint Bucket tool to fill the Sky layer.

3 Create a new layer and name it Lawn.

Choose the Picture Tube tool and find the Lawn tube in the Tool Options palette.

4 Click once on the Lawn layer to paint the lawn. Use the Mover tool and the Deformation tool to position and scale it properly.

5 Create a new layer and name it dirt.

Use the Picture Tube tool and the Dirt tube to create some dirt on the Dirt layer.

6 Create a Hoe, Grass blades and Spade layer. Using the Picture Tube tool place the Hoe, Grass blades and Spade each on their own layer. Use the Mover tool to place them where you want them.

7 Create a new layer and name it Clouds.

Choose the Paint Brush Tool.

In the Tool Options palette click on the Paint Brush with the arrow next to it. Choose Custom.

From the dialog that opens, find and select the Cloud brush. Set your foreground color to light gray and the background color to white.

Paint some clouds on the cloud layer.

8 Create two new layers and name them Corn and Plane.

Using the Picture Tube tool paint  corn on the Corn layer and a small plane on the plane layer.

You can adjust the size of the corn and the plane in the Tool Options palette where it says Scale. My plane is set to 35 and the corn is set to 50.

Below is the final Layer Palette.

9 Below is the final image. That was quick and easy and makes a nice looking image.

Have fun!
